On the topic of Mr. Thome?

I'm a big Thome fan but I'd be surprised if he hits another home run. I think when Howard comes back the Phillies won't have any use for Thome and he'll announce his retirement. He's a class guy and he'll see that he's not helping the team.

So that answer is no, he won't pass Sosa. He needs 26 to pass Griffey and he hasn't hit that many HR in a season since 2008 so no, he won't pass Griffey. That means he definitely won't pass Mays or make it into the top 5.

He's mostly just a pinch hitter with maybe getting a start at 1st here and there. He doesn't get a lot of opportunities to hit a homer. If he would have stayed in the AL, I bet some team would have had him be their DH, or part time DH.He would at least then get more at bats and have a bigger shot at moving up the list. With that being said, I think he moves past Sosa if that. For him to be in the top 5, he would have to hit more than A-rod. Which won't happen.

I was hoping he could catch Sosa. But it no longer looks like he will get the chance. This is his final year and he will retire.

He's a bench player that rarely plays and is currently struggling mightily. He might pass Sammy, but that will be as far as he gets.

He will be released soon...he might not even get another AB in the majors.Or let me say, he might get 5-10 more AB's maximum.
