anyone have a dog that reacted badly to COMFORTIS?

My 'grand-doggie' got Comfortis last Friday and has been lethargic and droopy and not happy since then.... will that stop soon or does he need another trip to the vet?... the vet was called....*one of the aids didn't think that was a side effect of Comfortis, but was brought up to speed by my daughter!!..... what she needs to know is if it's necessary to get ANOTHER bill or if the dog will straighten out on his own.....

many thanks to all who answer!!....

Update:

oh, dog is hairy mix about the size of a cocker spaniel.....

We have three dogs currently on Comfortis, and they have been for nearly six months now with no side effects and it has been more effective than other products used that seemed to become less effective over time. I do know it is supposed to be given with food. If you didn't give the medicine with the dogs food, that may be the problem, but I'd contact the Vet by phone to ask about your pups' demeanor and whether you need to bring her back in. Tell the aids you would like to speak with the Vet.

I'm sorry for your pooch and this won't answer your question either. But Ive' given it to 3 dogs more than several times, with no noticible side effects, except one of them regurgitates after eating em' even with food.

And I know others that used it with great success in the flea department.

My friend told me to administer them with a very greasy meal, so I cooked some bacon, poured the grease and a shot of vegie oil on his food last time and he did not throw up...

I googled comfortis side effects and this is the first link I clicked on. Looks like your dog might be in the 7% range.

In US and European field studies, no dogs experienced seizures when dosed with Comfortis chewable tablets at the therapeutic dose range of 13.5-27.3 mg/lb (30-60 mg/kg), including 4 dogs with pre-existing epilepsy. Four epileptic dogs that received higher than the maximum recommended dose of 27.3 mg/lb (60 mg/kg) experienced at least one seizure within the week following the second dose of Comfortis chewable tablets, but no seizures following the first and third doses. The cause of the seizures observed in the field studies could not be determined.

Yeah no offence Jack, yet i don't precisely evaluate The Nolte's comments to be good. Why he reported this approximately my fantasy novel "Burden of Time": "i'd somewhat submit to an unanesthetized pancreatectomy administered via a blowtorch whilst watching "friends" reruns." - Teh Nolte for sure the guy has no style!

I've heard that some people have had dogs that didn't do well on it...thankfully, mine did fine on it, and has done fine since we swtiched to Trifexis (which includes HW preventative)...

Sorry your grand-dog is not doing well...I hope whatever the cause, it is remedied soon!!!
