Do I have to pay for subscription I don't need and don't use?

I payed for a 6-months subscription of a financial advisor service. It proved to be absolutely useless. Now the advisor requires that I pay for another 6-months period saying that my subscription is annual with split payments. Do I really have to pay for services I don't need and don't use?

Update:

Thank you Corey. Unfortunatelly I don't know the legal aspect of the situation and they threaten me with their collection team. But I feel that nobody can make a customer pay for services he doesn't need.

Wrong. You signed a contract for the service that you are receiving. The fact that you don't want or need the service is your problem, not theirs.

No, just cancel it. Usually there is a phone number to call or write a letter.

If you call, they will try to off the magazine at a lower rate
