christians, if you knew someone whom you respected...................?

,...... admired, maybe knew personally and were a friend with, but learned they were a pedophile , how would you view them, treat them etc after that, and, would you report them to either the police and or the religious authority, ie the local church minister etc?

Update:

thanks to all the answers who give their best:-) i always appreciate that

Update 2:

breezey, i nderstand your point about seperating etc, but i seperate it here because as i said in my other q about it, this for me IS about christianty and pedophilia, so im not going to seperate them as my q is ABOUT the connection between them

see?

Update 3:

breezey, but thats the probmen, if they ARE chrisitan,

even christians can be pedophiles, so can pagans, so can anyone,

this isnt about the lable its about the followers,

this q is about christians, followers of christianty, regardless of what someone else calls them, if they follow christianity they are christians,

my point is that obviously they arent good people and because of all the problems with the catholic church and its 'protecting' pedophiles, i wonder how far that goes in christianty, and importantly what other christians views on it are

if this problem existed on the large scale in paganism i would be the first to mention it

but it isnt, there is no dominant paganistic religion that im aware of in the western would that has problems with pedophila and the authorities not stopping it

Update 4:

i find it worrying that people actually do go to the 'they arent christian' thought rather than saying they arent GOOD christians and they need to be stopped/dealt with, and go and make sure the church does that

that is part of the problem

but im glad to see a lot less of that , in this q at least it gives me some hope that maybe christianty isnt all about denial and not speaking up about these things the way it used to be

I couldn't live with myself if I knew for a fact it had happened, so yes, I would report it to the police. Of course. To the church? Maybe not. but to the police, yes...even if it killed me.

This is something all make a choice on. Christian or not... some may find it hard to turn in a close friend or family member. Since you asked only Christians... I am (with all my heart) hoping if one person had a hard time with it... he/she would pray and KNOW God doesn't condone it.

Do people somehow think being Christian sets "people" apart from just being human? What would an atheist do? Would all do the exact same thing?

I never understood all this separating of people when it comes to protecting a child or other situations like it.

Actually, no... I don't see. child molesters are not Christians... sick and unGodlike people are child molesters. Labels don't mean anything. I can call myself a pagan and it wouldn't matter...because I'm not and don't follow the pagan ways.

If you're not following the true ways of God, as a christian... you can't honestly be christian.

christian or not, the only right course of action in this situation is the one which ensures the safety and protection of the child, the rest is secondary (((frou))).

it would be a serious shock to the system for me if i found out that someone i admired and liked was thus inclined. to be honest, i don't really know how i would feel because i've never been in that situation... it would be desperately sad but, as the mother of a little one, i can tell you that the child's best interest would certainly be the uppermost thing on my mind.

Yes I'd report them to the police and inform the church leaders.

I would report them directly to the police or local law enforcement if I managed to not kill them after extreme beating and cutting them in peaces. And yes I would gladly suffer the consequences if I killed the person

1.) Call local authorities (i.e. police)

2.) Report them to the religious authorities.

3.) Hope that they redeem and rehabilitate themselves in prison.

And let that defilement continue? No. Report to all the evidence at the same time.

I would report it to the police. Staying silent makes me a guilty party to the crime.

I don't respect or admire anyone enough to sacrifice the well being of children to them.

    Hope that helps.

I would call the cops, I would testify at their trial, I would hope they face a long jail time.
