Do you know that the export of refined diesel from the US continues to increase?
http://www.platts.com/RSSFeedDetailedNews/RSSFeed/...
ULSD (Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel) exports from US Gulf coast refineries began to climb last fall and continue to increase. Do you really think that the Keystone pipeline which will bring Canadian shale oil to the same Gulf refineries that have switched from domestic gasoline production to producing diesel for the growing demand in Central and South America is bringing oil for US consumption?

Because the cost of diesel was lower than regular gas 6 years ago, it fostered a demand for diesel trucks and cars but sad to say, the greedy diesel people saw this happening and jacked up the price of diesel to the same price of the lowest grade gasoline. Sadly by that time, some segments of the population had already purchased their diesel engined cars and trucks. To this day these same people have seen no cost savings and deeply regret their purchase decisions.
So- my dear that is the story of why there is still a demand for diesel. Wait a few more years and there will be a glut of people wanting to sell their diesel vehicles and no one will want to buy them, Instead people will be buying the solar powered cars or electric cars.
