Do you need experience to be an extra on tv or in a movie?

I haven't taken any acting classes or had any experience in drama or theater. The entertainment industry is just something I'm very interested in, and it would be a cool to see what actually goes on on set.

-Also, I'm planning on moving to the LA area next year for college. I'm also not an aspiring actress. It seems like something I would do for the experience, not to necessary get a foot in the door in the entertainment industry

no experience. But unless you want to be a silent extra, you have to belong to the actors guild. For Star Trek movies, (and maybe scifi movies) you have to belong to the guild, regardless. But be aware, that as a non guild silent extra, you might not be kept in the final film. Last time I was an extra, they paid me. But when I saw the movie, it appeared to me, they had cut me out.
