I just bought a car in the state of RI, but want to register it in Kansas?

I have an active license in the state of Kansas, but live in RI. That said, I purchased a car here in RI, but not really looking forward to spending the $500 it will cost to get her legal (and it's a '74 bug). At that, I still have mail that goes to the address which is on my license, so I was wondering if I can register it in Kansas even though I don't live there. If it is indeed possible, how do I go about doing it?

First of all, you MUST get a Rhode Island license immediately. You are required by law to do this, so you will want to turn in the Kansas license ASAP and get the RI one. Directions for this are here: http://www.dmv.ri.gov/licenses/oosTransfer/

You are not eligible to get the car titled in Kansas as you no longer reside there. Your license and title must be in the state you legally reside in. Good luck!

So i think it to be obtainable even nevertheless it can be a soreness to do it. probably desire a indemnity bond.
