What kind of mythical food do Leprechauns eat?

They suck on their gold because they think it tastes delicious but won't eat it because then they wouldn't have it! However, they do eat potatoes that were grown in a field that had gold flakes heavily scattered in the soil. They just stick their hands in the dirt, pull a golden potato out and eat it just like that!!!
