How can I resist the urge to dip into my savings?
I have savings build up, then I spend it. I would like to know what other people do to avoid the urge to spend their savings. Especially when there are many things tempting you to buy.
Thankyou is advance.

This doesn't work for a lot of people, but I just tell myself that I'll regret it later on if I spend it. My savings is "off limits" until I use it when I can get the things that I saved up for.

It is hard to not spend but being diligent in saving money is a great habit to have. Look at the sort of questions that gets asked in the personal finance and you'll find many people in debt and they ask how to get out not realizing it is their habits that got them into the mess they are in. Make it hard to access. Put it in a savings account at a local credit union (one that has very few branches) and the only way to draw from the account is to physically go into the branch.

I avoid going into it because I couldn't stand seeing it go above $40,000 and then go BELOW! It must stay above 40. Also, I don't really spend a whole lot anyway. But recently I had to take out more than usual from my savings because I got an unexpected large bill.

Out of sight out of mind... Or you can put it into a CD that you will be penalized for withdrawing out of before maturity.
