Do prices rise really high after the first months of discount for a website?

For example, for Yahoo the first 3 months are discounted for the cost of a website. On average, what happens to the prices after that? How high can the prices go? I am thinking of opening a website and I'd like some feed back.

There's no standard for web site hosting schemes, but most commonly the initial price for some hosts is discounted for prepaying as must as 3 years in advance. Commonly you have to prepay for 1 year of hosting in order to get the bundled domain name commonly offered with the typical $8/mo shared hosting account. I believe most 1 year subscriptions will renew for the original price.

Those that bundle in site building services complicate matters, there are plenty of freelance site developers who can get you started for not too much money, you can find them on sites like odesk.com, elance.com there are predesigned templates sold at sites like templatemonster.com that save the startup cost of a conventional site. Many sites are based on Blog engines that allow you to select a design theme and add your own content with no programming. Some 17% of the top 1million sites use the industry standard Wordpress blog engine most hosts offer with an easy installer.
