There's a good possibility that the container your tea was in was not clean. It may have looked clean, but especially after boiling the tea, unless it was cross-contaminated, should not have done that. For your own safety and those you care about, toss out anything that isn't supposed to grow mold (bread, sour cream, leftovers, etc.) Don't try and 'save' it by removing the moldy part.

Next time you make sun tea (my favorite!) just make sure you have a container fresh out of the dishwasher clean to start, and keep fingers out of it. Put it right in the refrigerator even though still warm from the sun. Please don't get sick from this or bad food, not a good way to learn a hard lesson:(

How in the world did you get mold to grow in suntea? Did you add sugar to it?

Sun tea is just tea bag in water, let sit in the sun for 4-5 hours and then it's done. Add sweetener afterwards.

Yeah you will get sick, don't drink it. You don't boil sun tea. You just let it brew in the sun, and than drink it. The best way to get food or drink allergens is too take something hot, and put it in the fridge. You are always supposed to create a cooling or warming period for food to become able for consumption.

    Probably, yes.

Mold produces many spores, and if they are in the tea then it will likely have spread them around. I would not advise you to drink that tea.

I would skip it. Mold can be a source of aflatoxin... which is rare, but seriously nasty (linked to cancer etc). Not worth it when you could drink water. Not like it's your only bread and it's cut the mold off or go hungry.

Throw it away, start over. Sun brew 4-6 hr and refridge unused for days.
