Is Matt Holliday now in the NL MVP conversation?
He had four hits on Sunday and a big HR last night. He is batting .311 and took the RBI lead in the NL with 80.

Definitely, he's actually tied in the league lead with 90 RBI's. I didn't even know he was having such a good season until this question. I think he could actually snag the title if he has a good September.
Matt Holliday - 24 HRs, 90 RBIs, 311 BA, 4 SB
Heres some other who are in the running -
Carlos Gonzalez - 21 HRs, 81 RBI's, 309 BA, 16 SB
Andrew McCutchen - 24 HRs. 79 RBI's, 345 BA, 15 SB
Ryan Braun - 35 HRs, 90 RBI's, 307 BA, 20 SB
Buster Posey - 19 HR's, 80 RBI's, 328 BA, 1 SB
I would of also included Joey Votto and Matt Kept but they have missed to much time on the DL.
I think Holliday's two biggest adversaries are Ryan Braun and Andrew McCutchen. Braun also has 90 RBIs and has stolen 20 bases. Braun could potentially end the season with over 40 home runs and 30 stolen bases. As for McCutchen, we all know the monster season he's having. He is the league leader in Batting average, runs and hits. Holliday could potentially hit over 30 home runs and over 100 RBI's but he most likely wouldn't edge either out on hits or stolen bases. Theirs also a bunch of stats that I could get into where Braun and McCutchen edge out Holliday but as for a MVP candidate, yes Holliday is in the mix. As of today, I'd easily have him as a top 3 candidate.

Based on last year's MVP voting, Holliday will win if the Cardinals make the playoffs.
Andrew McCutchen is still the front runner in my book, but the writers will scutinize that he struggled in august and his team is not likely to make the playoffs. He still leads the N.L. in offensive WAR however.
I think if you take McCuthen away from the Pirates, that team is easily 10 games under .500. If you take Holiday away from the Cardinals. they still have Beltran, Craig, and Molina.
