What breed of dog is best for geese/duck/chicken protection?
We are soon getting a large number of geese, ducks and chickens. But we have a very bad fox problem. We have tried shooting them, trapping them etc.. but when they die more come and fill their place. So we are going to get a dog to drive the fox away and protect the animals. But what breed is best? My family doesn't really what a HUGE dog, we would prefer a medium dog. But in the end it wont really matter.
Thanks
We don't really want to spend over $500 for a dog, mixed breeds are also fine

You need a Pyenese...they will protect your geese and your territory, you just have to walk them around the perimeter of the area you want them to protect....they will....they have dbl dewclaws on their BACK legs....for ripping up intruders. They are serious....and will get the job done. OR, you can go to a farm supply store and buy Golden Malrin....put it in several foil pans around the ducks but away so they can't reach it. It will attract Racoon's(who if given the chance will rip the heads of your geese, ducks and chickens) We had a racoon get one of our chickens, they don't want to eat it, they just want to tear it's head off...put the Malrin out and they were gone. They even tore the head off a baby that was about 3 mos old....you just go out in the morn, and there they are w/no heads.....have heard of Racoons holding hunting dogs down in the water to drown them. Sweet huh?
The Malrin will also eliminate flies...it is actually fly bait but does work for other varmints.

Pit Bull's would no longer make just right protect puppies in any respect until of path you search reliable defense coaching, that goes for any breed. I might endorse a Fila Brasileiro for those who do not plan on getting any other dogs or having individuals over as a lot, but since you don't want whatever to control, I do not know if this would be quality. You'll be able to must do a ton a study on this breed nevertheless. They are not for any individual, they will assault strangers and different animals except they have been raised and expert a particular way. But once more, any canine generally is a good protect dog with appropriate and reputable training. Pit Bulls, German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Dobermans, Mastiffs, and many others.

A Brittany Spaniel. They LOVE hunting. I have a pond in my back yard so I have tons of geese and ducks. I hate the poop that the geese leave all over. My Brittany always comes to the door with geese in her mouth. She wags her tail like she achieved something big. It's sad that she kills them but it's helpful too. She also scared off a bear! I had a big bear in Our backyard and Sandy (My brittany) scared it off. Brittany's are also medium dogs so it's perfect. Hahahha, my Brittany also likes to hunt flys around the house. Catches them in her mouth while their in mid air. It's pretty cool. I feed her treats after she does. She's my little hunter. :)
And, she's only a year old.
