Off the wall question...Do you know any photographers who have their CCW or LTC permit and use it?

CCW...Carry Concealed Weapon

LTC... License To Carry (a weapon)

At a recent lighting workshop, one of the models was dressed in black leather and someone said it would be great if she had a gun to go with her outfit.

One of the women went and talked to the studio owners, then came back, retrieved her gun (and did a thorough clearing/unloading) and handed it over to the model to use.

This bought up discussions amongst the other photographers who weren't photographing the model at the thime. It seemed that opinions ranged from "I'm out of here" to "Why would anyone want to carry?" to others who either had their permit (or showed interest in getting it).

One of the photographers said he got his permit after he was doing some night time city street photography and got mugged for his gear. He said even after he gave the guys his gear, he still got stabbed (and showed off a nice scar as a result).

Update:

@Tim... I have mine also. The wife insisted I get it after I had a couple of close calls. Around here, you have to do an 8 hour class, a live fire test, and a fingerprint background check.

I have one, although I rarely carry, and most of the photographers I know also have a CCW permit. I just have one so I can carry a firearm in my backpack without violating the law.

Although here in Colorado it is very easy to get. If you don't have any felony convictions or restraining orders, you can just pay a small fee to the Sheriff and get your CCW.

CCW is hardly needed in Colorado, because we are an open carry state. It is perfectly legal to carry a visibly holstered firearm in public provided you are of age without a permit.
