Math problem. Deduct ,085 percent from 585.52?

If I have an amount, specifically $585.52 and .085% of that is tax I have to pay to the state. How much do I owe and how did you get to that figure?

Thanks in advance :)

Update:

Judy

The total amount I collected was 585.52. Tax is included in the sale price of the items.

Yes you were right about me having the decimal in the wrong place,, lol Tax is 8.5%. I come up with $49.77 is that right?

First of all the tax is more likely 8.5%, which is .085 not .085%.

How much do you owe? Sounds like you're saying the cost of the item itself is 585.52 in which case you'll ADD the tax to get what you owe which would be 585.52 times 1.085. You do the math.
