My car won't start?
I have a 1998 Chevy Metro, 3cyl 1.liter. My car won't start. It's getting spark, getting fuel and getting air. Just replaced the fuel pump so We checked and its' gettting fuel. We checked for spark and thats working. At first she would start and idle just fine, when you drive under load, she just stops running.
I have checked everthing that I know. Does anyone have any ideas?
She had new plugs, new battery, new AC, new clutch and new starter
Thanks

The MAP sensor was a common problem in older metros, I think they fixed it by 1998.
Stalling while under load implies either an exhaust backup on the outlet, or a fuel / air issue on the intake. It might not be getting enough fuel due to a failing pump, clogged injector, or clogged filter. Checking the exhaust is fairly easy, just put your hand over the muffler outlet and see if the rate of exhaust increases when revving; if it doesn't then it probably has a clog.
I notice a similar problem in my '96 several years ago; low power on hills and during acceleration. Turned out to be dirty grounds on the spark plugs and weak spark. Re-inserting the plugs and re-gapping them to 0.040in. solved all the problems.

the engine is getting gas but is it getting enough ? it,s getting spark but is it a strong blue spark or a weak yellow spark ? it should be a strong blue spark ! maybe the fuel regulator is stopping the gas from getting to the injectors !
