Now that Ryan Howard hit no. 300...?

Now that Ryan Howard hit home run number 300, it begs the question: if Howard started his career earlier and stayed healthy, would he have broken the home run record?

PS: Howard is the 2nd fastest to hit 300 HR.

Ryan Howard will be 33 in November and well his boat has sunk. He put up some nice numbers but still has only been in the league 9 years. Not so long ago baseball fans were contemplating the career of one Derrek Lee, well this was Derrek Lee's 33 year and since then well his career has gone south. Basically what I am saying is should Howard stick around till age 40 (which at this point does not seem likely) he will probably be lucky to cross the 400 Home Run mark all the while his career batting average creeps closer to the Mendoza line.

Ryan Howard is still young in his career. He has a chance.

How is he supposed to have started his career earlier? The Phillies had to wait until he was ready. In his case, it was 25. He wasn't ready at 21,22,23, etc.
