Let x = the number of courses
450x = the cost of the courses
Total cost of tuition = 45 + 450x
Tuition < or equal to 1000
45 + 450x < 1000
450x < 955
x < 2.1...
x = 2
The greatest number of courses she can register for is 2.

$1000 - $45 = $955
$955 / $450 = 2.1222222222. The greatest number of courses she can apply for is 2.

Two. 450 twice 900 plus 45 comes to 945$

use the equations y=450x+45.
if max is 1000, then 1000=450x+45.
solving for x, you get 2.something, which you round down to 2.
