How can we stop Romneys move to kill Amtrak?

What will seniors do for travel (who have too many TSA problems to fly) if Romney kills Amtrak ?

Update:

Oh the dumbest of responses was the one thinking the senior issue had to do with TSA time .

I guess there are rubes born every minute who Never see most of reality tho .

Reality check bubble people - TSA interference with medical items and the more recent case of removing a terminal cancer patients surgical bandages & contaminating the saline bag for the IV is unfortunately Typical of the dismal training of TSA staff .

TSA is fine for 20 somethings dashing between meetings but can suck for the 'other ' people .

Update 2:

to momsezno - since when is Amtrak NOT a travel issue ?

& yes , if mittens gets to be prez the country will tank like a brick on a lake BUT ,

messing with travel for a LOT of people is still a problem too , just one of many that the 1/2 wit will propagate .

The COLLECTIVE damage will be significant .

Like you do anything.. call your congressman.

Youve posted this twice now. Read the rules on the about tab. This is a violation

to do repeat posting of questions.

    Get off the bandstand.

If Amtrak wants to be a company, it can support itself.

Stop trying to scare the elderly.

My dad just flew to Phoenix. He's 86. Has a pacemaker. Bad hip

    He did just fine.

I guess you should vote for his opponent if you do not like what he stands for.

Your premise is dumb to begin with = you can go from LA to NYC on a plane in 7 hours including security time or you can travel by train in 6 days = the hassle of the plane far outweighs the problems you could encounter on the train with the limited mobility for that period of time.

I agree that it was difficult a few years if you had artificial limbs or other things that required you to get pat downs. But that has all changed = body scans are the BEST thing for elderly travelers - better than the era of traditional xrays. You walk right through or go through in a wheel chair. It takes seconds and you are on your way.

Unless you have an ailment that causes blood clots, probably always better to take the plane instead of a train.

I fly quite a bit for business, sometimes as much as 52 weeks in a year. My dad is in his late 70s with 2 hip replacements. No longer do we have to plan an extra hour or so to get through security.

it is not purely seniors that would go through, with much less recommendations to commute wisely and value effectively certainly everyone could go through. it could be devastating on RR retirement, at present we've a very risk-free solvent gadget, yet whilst Amtrack become disbanded that would replace critically. Subsidizing riders by Amtrack is lots extra much less high priced than subsidizing ridership on airways.

    First...don't vote for Romney.

Second...Amtrak is not going anywhere because the stink would be too big.

Third...seniors don't have TSA problems unless they create problems themselves.

    Not a travel question.

That would be the LEAST of our problems if that liar is somehow elected!

Just like anything, if it does not support itself financially, get rid of it.
