What will seniors do for travel (who have too many TSA problems to fly) if Romney kills Amtrak ?

In that case, many people would just stay home, and not just seniors.

However, it is very unlikely that Romney or anyone else will get rid of Amtrak. It is just too popular with the public to get rid of. With rising gas prices and more and more people shunning long distance car trips, passenger trains are the only logical solution for America's transit needs.

There has always been a major trump card that Amtrak plays when the topic of the axe comes up: Amtrak takes far less in subsidies than public roads and the airlines, and one one occasion, the head of Amtrak challenged John McCain that if McCain wanted to cut Amtrak, that he would also need to cut aviation subsidies to be fair. Needless to say, McCain was at a loss for words.
