Did Mitt Romney misspeak last night on being a pastor in the Mormon church?
Hopefully, a member of the Mormon church can answer this. Are there pastors in the Mormon church? I thought there were only lay leaders?

'Pastor' is a word that has never been used by Mormons in my lifetime. The local guy is a bishop, his boss is the stake president. Romney has held both volunteer part time untrained positions. The next level up is a paid position, a General Authority. There are thousands of paid LDS employees.

They don't call them pastors in the mormon church. The leader of a congregation is called a bishop. I suspect Romney used the term "Pastor" because it would most accurately describe his position in terms most understandable to non-mormons. In other churches, a bishop, is a much higher position than it is in the mormon church.

No, he was "called" by the church both to be a bishop and a pastor in the church. It's like a temporary position like the missionaries. I don't know how long they serve for, though.

He has been a pastor and a Bishop, Mormons aren't immune from being influenced by a man who tithes ten percent of $250 million and donates to Brigham Young University.
