Rewire amplifier to emit only bass tones?
Recently, I hooked up an old guitar amplifier via a 1/4" to USB link. I'm looking to modify the output tones of the amplifier so the speaker only has bass. Effectively making it into a subwoofer like you'd find on a home stereo system.
At the same time, I have two left over speakers from my old home stereo unit that I'd like to utilize for the mids and highs.
Adjusting the EQ on the amplifier itself does nothing as sound is being run straight from the computer to the 1/4" jack's input.

The speaker is not designed to be use as a subwoofer. You are not going to get the deep bass that you want from the speaker. Just go buy a system for your computer. Keep in mind the guitar amplifier is one a mono and not stereo (two channel amplifier). Hope this will help you out.

Wow! I did this very same thing when I was a teenager. I had an old Dumble guitar amp laying around doing nothing. I turned it into an epic subwoofer. I took off the grill cloth and took out the speaker. I cut some holes in that board the speaker sits on so more sound would come out. I used a razor blade to cut off that foldy thing at the edge of the speaker cone so the cone could move around more better. I put the speaker back in but put a bunch of washers between it and the board so even more sound could get out. I put some hangers on the cieling and hanged it from some ropes. It looked reall cool and sounded like you was right in a concert.

You maximum truthfully can harm a guitar amplifier via playing a bass with the aid of it, exceptionally on a low-value 30 watt prepare amp with an 8" speaker. The audio device on maximum guitar amplifiers are no longer designed for the low frequency of a bass guitar. in case you turn it up too some distance it is going to blow your speaker. It has no longer something to do with how long they play it or no remember in case you have have been given the quantity each and each of how as much as ten (you need to no longer even play a guitar with the aid of it at finished quantity).
