Transforming Formulas- Algebra?

I am in Honors Algebra and we're getting into transforming formulas [you know, A = 2/n(a + l); isolate l. Stuff like that] I am struggling a bit in it and I don't have any specific problem I need help on, but I was wondering if you could try to explain it simply or give a few harder examples and write them out step by step. Thanks for your answers!
