Why would anyone, who is not a plutocrat, want to settle for a trickle?

Franklin Delano Roosevelt, in 1936, paraphrased the republican argument against him in his reelection bid, when he mocked the republicans with the following one minute section of his speech.

“Let me warn you! Let me warn America! Of course we believe in social security. We believe in jobs for the unemployed. We believe in saving people’s homes! Cross our hearts and hope to die, we believe in all these things! But, we do not like the way the present administration is doing them. Just turn them over to us! We will do all of them! We will do more of them! We will do them better, and most important of all, the doing of them will not cost anybody anything."

Now, 76 years later, the Guardians of Plutocracy (GOP) are singing the same old song. So, if you are willing to settle for a trickle, vote for Romney; he will thank you for the tax cut for the wealthy.

Update:

@ Peace through blinding force; It is difficult not to recognize your obvious intelligence. Your grasp of history is awesome. You have covinced me that I have failed to understand what actually happened from 1933 to 1937 and what happened after 1937 when the republicans finally made a stand and blocked all that silly stuff that FDR had put in place. Thank you so much for setting me straight.

Trickle, is merely the tip of the ice burg... Deregulation, environment, safety issues, slave wages, go hand in hand, with the trickle down .... But for those like the Koch brothers, trickle down, is the best game in the country, nothing less, than a win, win......

Why is it that ALL of you Democrats cite EVERY period of actual growth as a BAD time in history?

Why do ALL of you CELEBRATE every period of expanding poverty and lament EVERY period of expanding prosperity?

Millions MORE falling into poverty? ALL Democrats CELEBRATE moving in the right direction.

Larger share of total national income moving to BOTTOM earners? ALL Democrats DERIDE this as "the rich benefiting on the backs of the poor."

Real per-capita income growth across ALL income groups? ALL Democrats decry the "growing income gap."

Historically low unemployment and still falling? ALL Democrats cry about "depression-like" conditions.

    Definitions of SUCCESS:

Democrats: More people dependent on government "benefits."

    Republicans: Fewer people NEEDING them.

    You are 100% right.

The Plutocrats in this country have convinced the Middle Class that their tax dollars are taking care of the poor and the working poor.

And so while the Plutocrats have us at each other's throats, they're slowly but surely taking over this country.
