2003 toyota echo fast idle?

Question

have a 2003 toyota echo 5spd. it goes on to fast of a idle when i start it cold. it is fine when it is warm and works perfect in every way and no check engine light on and the engine is perfect. it just sounds like it idles to high when i first start it up in the morning.

Update:

it runs to fast i know how the system works and it should idle highercold than hot its just higher idle than it should be

Yeah! its normal don't touch it! thats how it should work. It's pefectly working for you.
The reason why it idles to high when you start during morning is that, the fast Idle is actuated by the ECU as the thermo switch feeds it with the temperature of the engine(done by sensing the temp.of the coolant)

In simple way, the thermo switch sends temperature input signals to the ECU (Electronic control/computer Unit) and the ECU sends output signal to the fast Idle to go high as to prevent engine from hesistating when the temperature is cold(during morning its usually cold), thats all-hope you get it clear..And as the engine warms up  the Fast idle goes down..

If you think its going higher than normal then you have to change the Electronic Idler unit.yeah that would solve the problem...There are also some designs that are adjustable too! And have you touched the Idling system before? It can also be the setting of your throttle! Are you good at adjusting throttle settings? Then you could do that in the morning as it goes above normal(higher).
