Who are the best top candidates for Purdue University's football coach?
Purdue just got through firing Danny Hope as Purdue's head football coach, which I think was a little overdue, although I have to give Hope an A for effort. Which coaches do you think could be great potential candidates for Purdue's head coaching job? I'd love to see them pick up another great coach like they did with Joe Tiller. Please include a list of names and where they are coaching now and at what position (ie - head coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, etc).
1.) Kevin Sumlin - Sumlin seems unattainable. Texas A&M has as big of a name as Purdue.
2.) Butch Jones of Cincinnati could be a possible pick up, but might be a little hard to get, but gettable with enough cash.
3.) Dave Doeren of NIU seems like a very tenable candidate.
4.) Jim Tressel is unemployed as a football coach, but I'm not sure that Burke and Purdue would want him as a head coach with his tarnished image. He's a very smart football coach and I think he could get them winning. But it also might be hard to recruit well with his tarnished image.
If you could pull him away from the Colts, Bruce Arians (the Colts offensive coordinator) might be a great addition. I like his balanced offense approach and how he lets his coordinators do their job. The Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael was also considered by the Colts and could be a good pick up. Bob Diaco who is the defensive coordinator for the Irish could be a good pick up. He has the Irish defense as #1

If Purdue Football is ever going to rise to compete on a National level - the time is now to get someone who is a "name" been there done that with win results...Burke don't make another mistake. GET TRESSEL on the payrole!
