Greater than half is called a majority. Less than half is a minority. What is an exact half called?

Greater than half of a set's elements = majority

Less than half of a set's elements = minority

If divided into enough groups so that there is no majority, the largest minority is called a plurality.

What is the name for a subset consisting of EXACTLY HALF of a set's elements?

Update:

Considering divided in three groups, of 20%, 30%, and 50%. What would you call the one that is the 50%?

You could say "even" or "equally divided".

As you mentioned, in a set of 20%, 30%, 50%, we could call the biggest chunk "plurality" if it was anything <=50% ("less than or equal to"). Of course, again as you mentioned, if it were >50%, then we have majority again.

In voting, this situation could be "tie" or "stalemate", but that would only imply equal distribution (50% if two choices, 100/3% if three choices, etc.)

If you want one term that applies to a particular group with 50% of the total, no matter what, I think the term that would be least likely to be misunderstood is "half".

Have heard of dead lock. Might not be the exact word but in the ballpark.
