Could my blood blister be infected? What should I do?
I have a small blood blister right where a person would get an ingrown nail on my pointer finger. The whole tip of my finger is red and swollen and has been like that for about 24 hours. I got this at work when my finger got stepped on my a large dog (I work in a grooming salon). Last night the pain was severe. I have had blood blisters, and this one hurts a LOT worse than any I have had before. When I went to bed the pain was around a 7/10 but since I've gotten up the pain is less severe, maybe a 4/10 unless someone hits it, then it skyrockets. Last night it was so bad that if someone or something touched it I wanted to be sick the pain was so bad. I know I have a low pain tolerance, a very low one. But I know they shouldn't hurt this bad. I'm not sure if it's infected or if it's because of the area it's in.
Also, people are telling me to pop it. However, wouldn't that just create a higher chance of infection and create even more pain?

Pain has decreased for you today so that means the area is healing. If infected it would
not be decreasing in pain. A good thing to remember is- If something is staying the same,
or getting worse go to the dr. If it is getting better there is no need to worry, your own
system is taking care of it.
