Would problem with transmission have consistent symptoms?

I have a '99 saturn, and intermittently, the car will have trouble going forward while the gear is in "drive". It only happens occasionally though. I was also wondering if an issue with the fuel pump may cause those intermittent symptoms of the car suddenly not going fast enough while in "drive".

Thank you for your insight!!

Update:

Thank you for your input, though I'd read that the clutch differential was actually part of the transmission. Perhaps I'm wrong though.

Update 2:
