From Abraham to David? From Salathiel to Jesus? Well, if you know the Bible, it's easy but it is not for me, so please enlighten me. Thanks.

There were 42 generations in all from Abraham to Jesus Christ.
There were 14 generations from Abraham to David.
There were 14 generations from Solomon to Jechoniah.
There were 14 generations from Salathiel to Jesus Christ.
In other words, there were 42 generations from Abraham to Jesus,
and that includes Joseph and Mary, the mother of Jesus.

Abraham to Jesus 42.
Solomon to the Babylonian exile 14.
From then until Jesus 14.
Count them.
If you do you will count only to 41 or the last division only 13 before arriving at Jesus.
Why?
The last and "missing" generation is the present one which includes all the children of God in Jesus.
