Can the social media ever be able to overthrow the newspaper and the electronic media?

What are the chances of something like this actually happening?

I think Social media, newspapers and the electronic media- all 3 of them should work together, not against each other. Each of them has its own audience. They are intended to carry a news to such sectors where others can't. So I don't think they would overpower each other but yeah, social media and electronic media just slightly tend to travel faster.

Yes, it's already happening. For example a lot of Arabs post stuff about Gaza, whereas a lot of mainstream media used to ignore it, and still half-ignores it.
