Should I get a BMW Z3/Z4 or Porsche Boxster?
I am looking at purchasing a used vehicle. I have come across many Z3s and Z4s that I could purchase. However, while on my search, I have come across Porsches I could purchase. Which one would be a better buy? What is the cost to own each? Is the maintenance cost for each car the same? Would parts be the same cost to replace? Is each car reliable? How long will each last till i need major service? I know the Porsche would be around a 1999 or 2000's model, and the BMW ranges from a 2000 to 2004. I know many people say if you are asking about maintenance on a car, you cannot afford it. Money is not the issue. I just like to know the cost of something before I get into it. You do not take a product to the cash register unless you know the price first. Any information would be helpful. Thank you for your time.
Like the third question stated, I am looking for a sports car/roadster. If you have any more suggestions on make and model, feel free to post them. Thank you!

The older a car gets, the more expensive it is to maintain. Both of these cars are very high maintenance vehicles to begin with. They fall into one of two classes-
1. Run hard and put up wet.
2. Babied and never run hard enough to keep them limbered up.
If you can find one that is in between these general classes, they can prove to be a pretty good buy. But not cheap by any means.
If you just have to own one or the other, go with the BMW Z3 or Z4, the reason I suggest this is that it is a more stable car all the way around. The Boxster has a few more area's in handling flukes.

All these 3 cars are very reliable, they all have engines that are ment to last for years, but been all used cars, it all depends on what they been thru with their previous owner, and how you are going to keep it running. When buying a USED CAR especially these brands you MUST ALWAYS get a carfax or a vehicle record from the dealer before signing any papers, and make sure they have the same vin#, year, make, model, and color on the vehicle record, keep on mind the dealer has to pay for that not you, if they give you any type of excuses to not get you one then simply don't buy the car; out of these 2 brands a certified BMW has the best warranty out there, but if its ride confort your looking for then the Boxster will be the best choice. I driven these cars before, the Z3 and Z4 drive smoothly but it doesn't compare to a Boxster, also if your looking for a roadster there's is plenty of them in the market like a Honda S2000(comes 6 Speed only), Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Sky, just to name a few.

Seem at the Mercedes SLK. It is a 2 seater convertible similar to the Z4 and Boxster. The Z4 and SLK are cheaper to own than the Boxster. I would say the Z4 is the quality alternative in phrases of charges and reliability.
