Puppy won't "go" when taken outside to?
When I take my border collie/beagle mix outside to potty, she won't(3 months old now). I stayed outside an HOUR once to try and get her to potty. And yes, when I take her out, she has just finished eating/drinking. Should I try just waiting longer?

No, you should not try waiting longer than 5-10 minutes. This is a potty outing and the dog needs to learn that is what it is for (not necessarily play time). It is a good practice to get into (taking them out after eating or drinking) as eating stimulates digestion and elimination so you get a big gold star for that!
House training takes some time, so be patient. One thing you should be doing is crating the puppy after you've given it a chance to go potty outside. If it doesn't go, you should bring it back inside and put it into a crate small enough so that if the puppy were to go to the bathroom it would be standing / laying in it. Dogs will not eliminate where they sleep if they can help it.
You should be nearby so that you will become aware of their distress when the urge hits them. They will whine and pace and perhaps bark. You must immediately take them out (don't delay at all!) then praise them for going outside. You may want to say something like "go potty" or "hurry up" which the dog will begin to associate with elimination. Eventually you will be able to say "hurry up" and the dog will know that's what it's out to do.
Always be present AND paying attention when they are outside their crate inside your home. Be observant, puppies will usually stop playing and start sniffing or heading for a cool dark area when they feel the urge to go. You MUST interrupt this behavior with a firm "NO!" or some other word and again IMMEDIATELY take it outside.. again praising them when they go. If you can't keep your eye on the puppy then it should be in its crate, but do so in a place where you'll be able to hear if it starts to whine.
Good luck. If you have questions feel free to visit my website and contact me through there.

Sometimes puppies just dont get it naturally like cats. Try takeing an adult dog and have it go to the bathroom out side in front of your puppy a few times then praise the adult dog after it goes again in front of the puppy. If that doesnt work there are sprays at pet stores that supposedly when sprayed will make your puppy want to go in that area. However this only works for puppies so work fast if your going to do it. GOOD LUCK!

After you feed your dog take her out 30 minutes later. If she doesn't go then, take her back out in 15 minutes. Keep taking your dog back out until it goes. And make a huge deal out of it when she does.
Get to know your dog as well. When you do you'll start to notice things she does right before she has to go potty.

are you walking the pup or just standing and waiting ??? if you are not walking, you should try that ... i know someone who had to walk their puppy for SIX HOURS before it had a pee outside ... but then with tons of praise the pup got it ... but taking a pup out and just standing around waiting for it to go is a waste of time ...
