What other hot spots are there in Orange County besides downtown Fullerton?

I live in North OC/South LA, and we lately have been going to the SOCO area of Fullerton, for all the bars, restaurants, etc. Just wondering if anybody knows of any other hot/semi-hot spots around here? I do know the usual LA/Hollywood locations, but I'm looking for something more local to OC/South LA county. Thanks!!

Update:

Hmm, you make good points, I'm familiar with those places, but the scene is quite different. Restaurants exist all over...but I mentioned the Fullerton area due to the bars, etc. in close proximity to each other. It may not be a "major" player, but it's a younger crowd, not filled with families, etc....such as the Spectrum (which is a great place, but different). Not really looking for a "shopping" environment LOL

Downtown Fullerton ? Well, ok I guess. Personally I prefer Downtown Brea and both sides of the 57 in the Brea Mall area. Some of the most kicking butt restaurants in the area.

Another contender is the Spectrum in Irvine. World class IMAX, Dave & Busters for adult amusement Pool & food, National Sports Bar & Grill and world class comedy, pizza, shopping & more.

Downtown Fullerton has undergone a face lift over the years but they are a minor player on the LA / OC scene. I would liken them to Downtown Huntington Beach where I'd rather go. Not to mention Slaters 50/50....burgers NOT to be missed !
