My ps3 won't read a certain disc.?
I open the game (Skyrim) and press continue. But it won't load my game. It will just freeze. All my other discs work except this one. I already bought a new game but it still did the same thing. Please help.

If two copies of the same game are freezing, it is not the disc but corrupted data on the hard drive. heres what you have to do:
1. When you turn on the PS3, scroll over to "Games" and down to "Game Data Utility". highlight Skyrim, press triangle and select delete. (this will NOT erase any saves, just delete the game data)
2. Turn off the system, then reboot in safe mode; heres a link to how to boot the PS3 in safe mode.

How to activate safe mode is what you're looking for, ignore everything else for now
3. Once in the Safe Mode Menu, you will want to select "Restore File System" (again, no data will be lost.) The system will then proceed to check for corrupted files to repair.
4. Once complete, the system will restart and bring you to the normal xmb menu. From here you will want to scroll over to "settings" then down to "network settings". Under "network settings" scroll down until you see "media server connection". Disable it.
5. From here, you will want to re-insert the game and re-install any updates the game may have.
NOTE: the most common cause of corrupted data, is an update or DLC download not completing properly due to a loss of connection. A loss of connection during any part, for any duration, of the download process almost always causes corrupted data, causing the game to freeze. When using wifi, this issue is much more prevalent. The solution then is simple; when planning to buy any DLC or before downloading any game updates, switch the system over to a wireless connection. This will help eliminate the possibility of the system disconnecting from the internet, and causing corrupted data.

My advice: Down the line, i'd purchase a broken PS3 from a buddy(system that may have powering up problems) or simply promote the process for components. By way of opening the method, you voided the guarantee. Sony will not even give you quote on repairing there product now.

It might be the disc.
But Skyrim is known to have problems (especially on older consoles) so it might just be your console.
