I'd go to New Orleans.Great food, nice people, fun city, and don't forget about the Ghost Tours.The hotels are pretty good cost when it's not Mardi Gras. I would say bring 5000 bucks.

australia of course. if you do, rent a 4wd camper (not by a cheap rental company, they only rent out cheap crap which will give you a lot of trouble) and travel around. nsw, qld, nt, sa, vic would be a nice round, but you could also consider crossing coast to coast.

i spend 2 months in wa and nt alone, that was amazing, the vast emptiness around, fill up your water and petrol everywhere you can, night with not a fire of light around, beautiful. those 2 months cost us around AUD9K, so you need to look at at least AUD15K.
