Larry Jones, perennial All Star, MVP and Post season stud even at the ripe old age of 40, 1st ballot hall of famer, Never had gaudy numbers, but consistency not seen since Cal Ripken. 19 years on the same team. Honorable Mention: Pujols, Rodriguez. Miggy needs to show consistancy over his entire career. The others are one trick ponies. Jeter has 3000 base knocks but only 255 home runs, Ortiz is a DH and hits home runs, same could be said for Thome, Guerroro and Ramirez, Suzuki see Jeter. It has to be a 5 tool guy and the only 3 I see that fit in that category are Jones, Pujols, and Rodriguez.

All around resume? Derek Jeter without question.

If I had to rank them based on career to date:

    1) Derek Jeter

    2) Ichiro Suzuki

    3) Albert Pujols

    4) Chipper Jones

    5) David Ortiz

    6) Jim Thome

    7) Vlad Guerrero

    8) Miguel Cabrera

    NO RANK

Many Ramirez - Steroids, clubhouse headache, self serving.

Alex Rodriguez - Steroids, self serving, steady decline every season

    Right now, definitely Miguel Cabrera.

    Best Career - Arod

Best Career never associated with PEDs - Derek Jeter or Jim Thome. Jeter all around player, Thome power hiter.

    Miguel Cabrera or Derek Jeter

    Miguel Cabrera without a doubt

Right now Miguel Cabrera. Best career, it would be Alex Rodriguez.

Best player right now is Miggy Cabrera, best player in his prime is no doubt Albert Pujols or Derek Jeter (Pujols for his HRs and RBIs, Jeter for his defense, average, and leadership).

A-Rod and Manny were insanely good but they were juiced up. I'd say a tie between Jeter and Pujols
