The prescription drug Adderall---CAN relieve stress, but in general, it does not----is virtually NEVER prescribed for this purpose of relieving stress.

Sometimes, Adderall is prescribed "off-label", often in conjunction with other medications--or another medication--and often (but not always)---in lower dosages--and sometimes in the short-term---to treat certain types of depression, severe neuroses, especially in rare cases of individuals of those who are too neurotic to speak in psychotherapy sessions; severe social anxiety.

In such cases, Adderall (and often, in combination with the other medications), could relieve stress.

In effect, Adderall could relieve stress indirectly by managing ADD/ADHD symptoms to such a great extent that indirectly, stress is relieved.

Edit----however, this medication is very serious, and is a controlled substance (Schedule 2 by the Drug Enforcement Agency). Unauthorized possession/distribution/sale (i.e. without a valid prescription or DEA license) is a FELONY. Furthermore, this medication could actually AGGRAVATE stress in individuals if not properly prescribed, or even IF properly prescribed. Individual response varies. This is why one must consult a medical doctor, such as a psychiatrist, or other properly qualified licensed doctor/ prescribed practitioner who is experienced with prescribing this medication, to determine if this medication would be /might be right for you, as well as to discuss alternative treatments, and to discuss dosages and monitoring. Additionally, people taking this medications should consult with their licensed pharmacist for further information.

George pretty much hit the nail on the head, but I just want to make this clear: The DIRECT result of Adderall is almost always to increase anxiety. BUT, as George said, it is possible for one to have more anxiety as a result of ADD symptoms than one has on Adderall, with many of the ADD symptoms lessened.

If you have ADD, there are also medicinal options to decrease anxiety when you take your Adderall.

Adderall has made one of my best friends a hermit and more socially anxious than I am. Don't make this mistake.
