New gerbil is biting. Need ways to teach it to stop?
I recently got three new gerbils, from a petstore, so I know they're going to bite a little. Two of them have already pretty much learned not to bit me, after I blew on them a little after they did. But one seems to bit harder when I blow on him.
And nudging isn't working either.
I think he has almost learned no to bite me (unless he's scared), but sometimes he still does it anyway.
Does anyone have any other ideas on how to teach him to stop?
Ej, I think that would just add to the problem.
I don't want him to be afraid of me.

It is not normal for animals to bite ever. Gerbils are not aggressive animals, they will try to avoid danger first, and only attack when necessary. If you are getting bitten, you need to back off and give them more space. When you get new rodents, you need to leave them alone for the first few days or week to settle in their new cage and feel comfortable. There is no rush in taming, you need to be more patient.

Ej you are mean and d umb a ss. Any way I would leave him alone for about a couple of days he is just scared and bitting is his only way to have you back off. Blowing on their face won't hurt but it might not help. Gerbils are not mean and they are a sweet little animal and they are very social.
