Why aren't Charles a King?

When King Edward VIII(Duke of Windsor) abdicate the throne and thus make his brother Albert(George VI) the new King, Elizabeth(the Queen) become the Queen because he was the Heiress Presumptive -- George VI doesn't have a son to be the King before Queen Elizabeth. The Queen's spouse, Prince Phillips, is not a King as he was only a consort spouse of Her Highness. In Britain the word "queen" has two meanings in connection with the monarchy. It means (1) the wife of the king (or late king); (2) a woman reigning in her own right (like a king). Elizabeth II is a queen in sense (2), and if one wants to be extremely precise one could use the expression "queen regnant" ("reigning queen") in such cases.

But, their first child and first son, Charles supposed to be the King because he was technically have the right as a King by succession(by birth).

Is it because the Queen is still alive and didn't yet abdicate the throne that he can't become a King? And when the Queen did abdicate one day, who would become the King? Is it Charles or William? And who get to decide who is going to be the King (i.e, the Queen or British Royal System or by Democracy)?

Update:

thanks '?' for being super-smart. there are only one error in me identifying the gender. btw, i spelled Phillip, with two L's and yes, I mistakenly add an 's' after Phillip, don't have to sarcastically critics the error, thanks.

How he could be King when the previous Monarch is still alive and on the throne? Unlike other monarchies, in UK the monarch does not abdicate - only Edward VIII did when he actually had not choice.

About the second part in your question: The Democracy played a role in the succession rules by voting them (i.e. the UK Parliament back in 1703). So, is first Charles and then William and then the unborn child and then Harry and then Andrew. See the succession line, below...

You are a bit confused, when edward abdicated the throne went to the next in line which was his younger brother who became george1V, it was elizabeth who became heir presumptive as in those days it was assumed that george may have a son, when he died in 1952 she became queen, when she dies charles as her eldest child will become king. The throne is handed down in the family, when charles dies the throne will go to william if we still have a monarchy then. By the way the queen will never ever abdicate, she sees her role as a sacred trust and will be queen until she dies.

The Queen has no intention of abdicating the throne. Charles has to wait for his mother, the Queen, to die before he can become King.

After Charles dies, William will inherit the throne.

The succession to the throne is determined by inheritance, not by the Queen, or by democracy.

Charles isn't king yet because his mother, who is the current monarch, is still alive. He can't inherit the throne until she dies.

British monarchs normally do not abdicate. They remain on the throne until death. Edward VIII's abdication was a very unusual exception.

The line of succession is laid down by law. The monarch cannot change it. Only Parliament could do that.

The Queen was crowned - for life. She remains Queen until she dies. British monarchs simply don't retire, or step down. Once she does, then her heir - Charles, takes over.

The succession is laid down in law. In fact, the law is just about to be changed in the UK (if it hasn't already) to ensure that future heirs will always be the eldest child - male, or female. But, law regulates the entire system. And, tradition, which has the force of law in the UK.

You seem to be having a spot of bother with genders Girl=she and boy =he. Prince Philip is the Queens husband Philips is the electrical appliance company.

The reason that Prince Charles is not the king is because he is an idiot, the fact that his mother,Queen Elizabeth, is still alive and kicking is incidental.

Edit.......Would mes be sarcastics? I didn't yet even begins to be sarcastic and have yet to fathom out how one would indeed "sarcastically critics the error"
