Any writers out there who are good in mathematics?

I'm great at math and I'm a science major. My English profs all beg me to switch majors. Writing is fun. Manipulating DNA is funner. :P

I was good at math, but my skills have atrophied. I had 720 math and 580 verbal on the old SATs. My early attempts at writing were hit or miss--I'd have a story in my head, but other people wouldn't always want to hear it. It took me a few tries and a few years before I figured out some of the things that make a story worth hearing/reading.

I think that my writing has improved (and my non-fiction writing has always been good), but I'm not exactly trying to get published. In fact, when I finish what I'm working on now, I may just smash the computer so no one can ever read it (and it would give me an excuse to get a new one). I see a slim possibility that I could fix some plot problems and develop a couple characters better, but the more I write on this story the more I hate writing it. The only thing that encourages me is that all of the things I wrote that I loved the most are the ones nobody else liked, and the stuff I thought was crap people did like--so I may get some other opinions before destroying it.
