Where can I buy a surround sound system without the speakers?
Like I have speakers, but the system itself is non-functional. So all I need now is the system.

While I already gave Grumpy Mac a thumbs up I do feel like I need to give my 2 cents also...
Why are we telling you not to use those speakers? Others have asked the same question. Research was done to see if speakers like your can be re used. This is what was found:
For whatever reason, the manufacturers of these all in one systems use speakers that have very odd impedance - In many cases 3 ohms. Normal home speaker impedance is 6-8 ohms and
that is what audio/video receivers are designed for. Impedance is the load the receiver will drive. If the impedance is low the amplifier needs to work harder and can easily overheat or burn up. Thus we cannot recommend reusing the old speakers as they will most likely cause you more trouble than it is worth.
If your system is broken, throw it all away and start new. Buy a decent A/V receiver and speakers. That way, when one part breaks you can easily replace it.

Sounds like your main unit on the home theater in a box is fried. Those speakers that came with the unit are not very good and compatible with other units. Those home theater in a box are not worth the money. You are better off buying a unit like an Onkyo HT-S3500. It is a 5.1 receiver and a set of speakers. You can add other device to this unit and can up grade. Demo the unit at any Fry's Electronic and it retails for just under $300. Hope this will help you out.

Wait - do you have a $299 box system? Those speakers are NOT designed to be mixed with other gear.
One of the reasons we never recommend these systems is that when one part breaks - you have to toss the whole thing.
Sorry - but the ability to mix and match is one of the things you give up for the low price.
My advice -get a system with a full-sized AV Receiver.

you need to use a appropriate encompass receiver with purely 2 audio device, to start. and boost your device as funds facilitates. you will get get right of entry to point encompass receivers beginning at $2 hundred or so. in the experience that your wide-unfold A/V sources are the cable container and game consoles, you in all likelihood can use a ordinary stereo receiver and connect the line out of the containers to receiver line in. it is in certainty what I even have been doing for over a decade, the previous year from a stereo to a encompass device with digital connections on what i'm able to.
