But that the Union leaders came to him and said that the vast majority of Americans would soon riot and overthrow the government if something was not done.  FDR understood that if he didn't do something that Capitalism in the US would be dead.  And so to protect Capitalism and the way of life for his own class, he created jobs for what became the middle class. And by doing so, there was also created a much larger economy than was ever expected because people had money to spend.  Why doesn't the current government do the same thing and save Capitalism once again?

Because the Republican party is not concerned about making sure the middle class is healthy, they prefer to ignore the fact that helping the middle class works and concentrate on something they know doesn't work, but gets them big donations at election time, helping the big guys.

When you say the word worker in this country the first thought is that you're a communist, but working people are as necessary to capitalism as the owner is.
One will not exist without the other.

Obama is an avowed "blue-dog" democrat, as a capitulating conservative, Obama will probably  throw an occasional "bone" to perhaps keep his loudest party critics at arms length.

After 4 years of conservative appeasement, it's become rather obvious that Obama would probably be less inclined to cave as often as he has to the GOP if he wasn't being constantly threatened with inflammatory racial rhetoric in order to embarrass Obama by forcing him to constantly overcompensate for his blackness by doing everything to supplicate his white power overlords.

Unions are so weak they can't even prevent Michigan from decimating their ranks under the false equivalency of "worker freedom" when people already have the freedom to join or remain non-union members at a union shop.

Obviously the most convoluted anti-union pejoratives are the preferred method used to make unions unpalatable to people who have nothing but corporate propaganda to go by if they're unaware of the violent union suppressing tactics used by union hating corporations throughout history.

Maybe that's not such a bad thing. The guy before him promised a chicken in every pot and a car in every garage. By the time FDR took office, many Americans didn't own a car, a garage, and in some cases a pot either.
