the first three are normal. when i first got my guinea pigs they didn't drink, but then i realized they had no idea where the water was. you should physically pick up either your water or your piggies and take them to each other just to show then what it is/does. also they wont drink while you watch.

    plz help me http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AieR3...

If it's his first day than don't expect him to run around much or figure out the water bottle right away, but if he isn't active and drinking by the second day then there is a problem, you know what that problem is? He is sad. Remember that all guinea pigs NEED to be kept in pairs of the same sex so get him a friend. Guinea Pigs are a herd animal and need the company of their own kind to be truly happy. Even if you’re able to donate a lot of time to your piggy, you can't possibly give them 24hr attention, so getting another guinea pig as a cage mate will stop your piggy becoming lonely when you are absent. Together, guinea pigs can develop a close bond with each other, play "follow the leader", talk, they even enjoy a game of tug war with a piece of carrot. Even after you get him a friend (ASAP) if they are not running around much or drinking it could be that the cage is too small, the minimun space for 2 Guinea Pigs is 7.5 square feet long which is 30 inches wide x 36 inches long.

    Good Luck

    Hope I helped

Alot of guinea pigs pads are black so that is nothing to worry about. Most pigs are lazy anyhow so when it comes to not really running around don't worry about that, my 4 I used to own never ran around much unless I took them out of the cage and even then they only explored a little but preferred to just sit on my lap or stay in one spot. Guinea pigs do eat ALOT! Make sure you are feeding them more fresh fruits and veggies and less pellets and pre mixed foods as the pre mixed things you get from the store are actually unhealthy and will make your guinea pig overweight if fed too much. As for not drinking much, it may be that they just aren't thirsty so, I would just keep an eye on him/her and just make sure that your guinea pig isn't getting dehydrated, or showing any signs of discharge from the eyes or nose or any signs of loose or runny stools. Best of luck to you and your guinea pig!
