How do you feel about Obama sending troops and missiles to Turkey?

Yes, I realize that he's sending "only" 400 troops, but isn't that the way Kennedy got us involved in Vietnam--slowly---and isn't that how Clinton got us involved in Bosnia? Y'know, those troops were only supposed to be there for 6 weeks---and they're still there.

Update:

Demand---Clinton caused 9/11 if we want to place blame. You people insist that Obama couldn't possibly fix the economy in only 4 years but, somehow, Bush was supposed to clean up Clinton's mess with Al Qaida in 6 month. Typical lib.

Update 2:

PhillyGuy--Y'know, you make a lot of sense. If Libs hadn't whined so much about Iraq, who shipped their WMDs to Syria because they insisted on waiting 16 months to go in and Afghanistan, I wouldn't have a problem either. We Philly people are pretty smart. lol

the patriots are used as a defense against Scud missiles (remember your first Gulf War history?). Now that Assad is firing his Scuds, the defense system is to keep them from landing in Turkey. We used to base ICBMs in Turkey. A missile landing in Turkey would be a provocation that we are trying to prevent. the 400 support troops won't be there forever, if the Patriots stay, Turkish troops will be trained in their operation, just like the Israelis were before them.

Kennedy did not get us involved in Vietnam, it was Johnson that decided Vietnam was worth fighting for after the "Gulf of Tonkin Incident". Both Eisenhower and Kennedy wanted nothing to do with it and neither sent "troops" just a few advisers and special forces for training purposes. Nixon had a secret plan to end the war, we all know now how well that went. George HW Bush had a plan to put an end to Saddam's ability to wage war, we all know now how well that went.

Turkey is just as Muslim as the rest in the region and can't be trusted. Knowing chemical weapons are in hiding there and waiting to be released doesn't give me any hope of this turning out well. But then, Obama doesn't know the first thing about true warfare. He's only interested in destroying this country any way he can. If it means disposing of our troops in bits and pieces, he's all for it. By doing it overseas, he can blame it on his Muslim buddies and not take the fall himself. After all, the media's got his back.

We need to get out of NATO & the United Nations. We should be taking our marching orders from Congress ONLY.

This is none of our business and should mind our own business. This is the kind of stuff that Our Government does that creates all the hatred and anger from people in the Middle East.

I've already written to my congressional representatives with my opinion - which is stay out of the Syrian conflict.

Whining on an online forum isn't going to do any good. Write to your congressional representatives and express your opinion.

If we can't protect a NATO ally when a legitimate threat is in their backyard, our word isn't worth much.
