34 weeks and in so much pain, how can I kick start labor?
I am 34 weeks and I am in so much pain. A few days ago I had BH so intense that my husband took me to the hospital. They said my cervix isn't showing signs of labor and the computer didn't register contractions. Well I work 10 hours a day as a manager at a Burger King. You would think I sit all day right, well I don't! I have to be moving around and on my feet for at least 9 hours a day. I have a hard time walking without any pain. It hurts in my lower abdomin and the more I'm standing the worse it gets. I know it is probobly muscle and joint pains but I can't take it no more. I am looking to kick start my labor. Now bridge you go judging me you should know that my seven year old daughter was a month early. I was a serogant mother to four children. So my body is used lol! Unfortunately the last child I gave birth to was very large. Please help me kick start labor!!!!

Ya ur daughter was born early but every baby is.diff. Some babys do very well, while others don't and sometimes die. Not a chance I would take. nothing is going to jumpstart labor unless your body is ready anyway unless ur induced. I'm 34 wks now and would never want to induce this early, I'm in horrible pain, this is my second and sometimes I can't even stand up, but my babys health is more important to me than my own needs, thats what being a mother is all about. I have heard stories of babys born at 36 weeks and not making it. Think about that. I don't want to have this baby until I'm at least 38 weeks... You aren't that far from full term. Don't harm your baby. I suggest taking your leave and relaxing. I think you are working too hard and that is why you are in too much pain

If you were to go into labor now, your baby would be premature. If you think you're in pain now, think about the emotional pain of having to watch your baby through the glass of an incubator, or as you struggle to get her to nurse because her suckling reflex is still undeveloped.
(There is a considerable differnce between 34 weeks and 36 weeks, and I have no idea what a serogant mother is.)
If you are unable to work any longer, ask your doctor for the necessary paperwork to get on short term disablity, or just start your maternity leave early.
But -- to answer your question, there is no way to induce your own labor. Even a medical induction is VERY unlikely to work at 34 weeks, so if the doctor were to decide that, for medical reasons, baby must be born this early, you would probably need a c-section.

Your problem is not having to kick start labor it's you working and being on your feet too much. Perhaps it's now time to take your maternity leave, or if you don't have it, then take some time off (which you're entitled to do). Like everyone else said, there's nothing you can do to kick start labor outside of being induced at a hospital. Anything you try to do can either hurt you or worse, hurt the baby and make it go into distress. That on top of the baby being premature, I can't imagine any mother who would purposely want to have their baby struggle the first few weeks of it's life and put their baby through all of that just because they are the one who's uncomfortable. Do what you gotta do about work instead of trying to have a preemie.

i WOULDNT try to start labor...you still have 3 weeks until you reach full term and approx. 6 weeks until your due date. Please be wise. It is important that your baby stay in the womb for as close to 40 weeks as possible. If you go into labor now, your baby will be premature and could possibly spend time in the NICU..is that what you want. Pain is sometimes part of pregnancy. If the Dr is not recommending induction, i would just wait. IF you need to be on bed rest, tell your Dr and and see if he can get you any documentation to help you with that for your job...but please whatever you do, please dont try and jump start your labor this early..for the baby's sake.

It's lovely fashioned to begin having contractions after overexerting your self. Lay down and drink a tumbler of water when you start feeling like that and the contractions must discontinue.

Go dancing. You could also try some exercise videos.
Increasing your heart rate will force more blood to your baby, making them healthy. -And you are probably in pain because you are just standing all day instead of exercising where you need it.
