if you can't justify why you should be allowed to turn in late homework you shouldn't be allowed to.

and you dont deserve the extra credit. i wont answer this question for three reasons.

    1. you are lazy

    2. you didnt even try

    3. you are relying on others to do your work

I'm not trying to be mean... just trying to make a point.

    1. Too many assignments from other teachers at the same time.

    2. You don't understand some parts in the assignments and the deadline is too near to discuss with the teacher.

    3. People deserve a second chance ;)

That's only for students who sometimes submit late homework though, but not always late cos that's just gonna be plain excuses to the teachers

    1) In many deadlines in real life you can extend the deadline with a "request for extension of time." By allowing such a request to extend the deadline for homework, the student is being taught how to handle some real life situations. Even better would to be allow requests for extension for only certain homework items, and not on others. In some cases in real life the deadline is the deadline and you cannot extend it and if you miss it, too bad, but in other cases extensions may be granted for good cause.

    2) There should be a penalty for late homework, but not a complete 0. The student completed the work and should be graded upon that work to help them learn and to measure academic achievement. Yes, in accepting the late homework, you are losing in teaching the student about the importance of deadlines, but say take 10% off the grade for being late, you are still conveying the message that there are penalties in life for missed deadlines (sort of like a $35 fee for making a late payment on your credit card - they still accept and apply the payment, but there is a penalty). So again, it can be a tool to teach students about dealing with real life missed deadlines.

    3) The teacher would be recognizing and giving credit to the student that did the assignment, albeit late, over a student that just plain old refused to do the assignment.

Yes, they should in most situations. But I also they they shouldn't because school is to prepare you for life so you'll become irresponsible if you turn it in late every time.

    1. The whole point of homework is to practice, so no matter how late you do it, you still practiced.

    2. It shows how smart you are and if they don't accept they'll never really know.

    3. Some situations can make you not get your homework done, and you should be excused.

Some teachers accept late home works like my teacher tell her 3 reasons below:

    1. I haven't much time. I had heavy/big work to do

    2. I didn't understand my homework well

    3. I forgot my notebook/book to school

DO NOT SAY NEVER I FORGOT because its not a reason

    good luck!!!

    1. Absences due to unavoidable circumstances. Examples would be an acute illness, surgery, a hospitalization, a vehicle accident with injury, or death of a family member.

    2. Suspension. If the student gets a little "vacation" (as we call it at my school), they cannot be on school grounds. This may be a reason for extending a homework guideline.

    3. IEP or medical 504. These students have issues such as learning disabilities or conditions such as doctor-diagnosed issues (ADHD, panic attacks, anxiety disorders). The school must, by law, accommodate the disability, including allowing the student more time to turn in homework.

Well, I think they should, but it be a less of a grade. If they do it more than three times in a month or something like that, you should get a note sent home. Sign and return.

    1. Family problems.

    2. Severe pain (headaches, stomach ache)

    3. You were sick that day, and didn't know what to do.

Reason 1: Fell asleep when got home

Reason 2: You had no pencils, or pens

Reason 3: You were busy doing other homework and you can't finish them all at once

Just go to the teacher and be truthful.Tell him that you just had a lot on your mind and you forgot to hand it in.
