Would I be able to visit my fiance in the hospital if..?

So I am curious. If my fiance were to ever get hurt and sent to the hospital. Would I be able to go to the hospital and see him and get information? We do have a son together. Does that make me family?

    Most hospitals do not place any restrictions on non-family members visiting patients, though the hospital may have a restriction that only family members can visit a patient who is in the Intensive Care Unit or in the emergency room. It is always best to check with the hospital about their visitor policy.
