Are School Shootings?

A result of violence emanating from video games and media outlets?

Not necessarily the cause but it can contribute to a persons way of thinking and feeling about violence. To some, playing violent video can make them feel that violence is ok and doesn't matter.

No. Many people have committed large scale violent crimes against children and adults throughout history. Most populations have a certain proportion of sociopathic/psychopathic people who possibly enjoy killing people or feel like victims of society. Often they took out their anger on "other" groups such as Indians, Blacks, the poor, etc.

Though these incidents have happened throughout history, the amount of violent crime correlates roughly with the level of gun control (for obvious reasons). It's very difficult to change an inborn trait of psychopathy and sociopathy, or a feeling of hatred towards others. Usually it is a lack of empathy, hatred, and social isolation that lead to these acts.

The only reason there is a perceived change in things is that the media can immediately cover things so much more effectively now. That's why there seems to be a massive rise in school shootings.

Plus everyone is now forced to go to High School. Being in high-school, I can honestly say that I hate it, find it frustrating, and (I'm ashamed to say this) feel pretty damn mad at the pettiness, the snobbery, and the lack of insight of the many people there. This is probably a symptom of cramming a bunch of different people into the same place without their consent (ever notice how reality shows can have some violence because the people don't get along?).

There are many things that have much bigger correlations. Violence has existed throughout our history, with or without God (as the "moral" poster stated). Perhaps you'd realize that the Inquisition and the Crusades, which killed many more innocent people then any school shooting, were caused by religion.

    Cowboys shot Indians, etc. etc.

Maybe so. Kids these days are playing video games in which they shoot down anyone who presents a challenge to them. So, if a child has a gun and one of his or her teachers or fellow pupils presents a challenge to him, what else do you expect him or her to do?

I think that the two types of people that are mainly responsible for all the school shootings are the governments (not being fascist, but particularly the US government) and the gaming companies. I thinly hat we need both new and more strongly-enforced gun laws and new and more strongly-enforced age-restricting laws on video games.

All the studies seem to show that violent behaviour is induced by violent media and video games.

I think it can affect a persons way of thinking and possibly alter their hostility to a slightly harsher level, but you wont go out and kill all these people after playing some video games.

Ofcourse, everybody knows Call Of Duty is to blame, not his past mental problems.

Nope, video games all the way.

This is a result of moral decline. Violent video games are a part of that moral decline, but not the only factor. This I know. Liberalism plays a major roll in the moral decline of this country. You can't continue to spit in the face of and reject God and expect him to bless nation.

yes most of the time, there has been a incident where a 17 year old boy killed his parents because they didnt let him play Halo 2. Video game addictions can become like this.
