Is it dangerous to have your period for a whole month?

Literally I have been on my period for a whole month as of today. And it was weird because my last period I only stopped bleeding for 3 weeks. Usually my period is a very normal 7 day bleeding on a 28 day schedule. I don't know if I should be alarmed? What can cause this?

Update:

Yes i am on birth control pills. I am taking Cryselle. I am not sure what generic brand that is for but that could be it! I will definitely schedule a dr appointment!

I am experiencing the samething but I take birth control the Depo Provera injection. I've been spotting for 2 wks and bleeding 2 weeks. My doctor said it might be that I am getting either more estrogen or progesterone than the other hormones that should all be at stable levels he also said he will run tests to check my hormone levels. I have been told to stop it and use another form of birth control. I hope this helps.

That depends, are you taking Birth Control because that can cause abnormal periods. My mother had hers for 3 months straight, but nothing bad ever happened. Although, if you're not taking birth control, you might want to schedule an appointment with the doctor. Nothing may be wrong, but it's good to get things checked out.

Definitely schedule a doctors appointment. That is way too long, especially if you're usually regular.
